Defend The Vote Executive Director Brian Lemek released the following statement ahead of Donald Trump’s and Speaker Johnson’s scheduled press conference where they are expected to spread more misinformation about voting that threatens our democracy.
“The truth is Donald Trump lost the 2020 election and no amount of misinformation or harassment of election workers will change that fact. Today, he and Speaker Johnson will continue the Big Lie to justify their attempts to restrict the freedom to vote for millions of Americans so they can pass their extreme MAGA agenda.
“While MAGA Republicans are attempting to hand power to election deniers, dark money groups, and corporate special interests, Democrats have introduced the Freedom to Vote Act and John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. These bills will protect the right to vote and the rule of law and make democracy work for the people, not corporations.”
