GOP should acknowledge their policies are unpopular and start listening to American Voters
Defend The Vote Executive Director Brian Lemek released the following statement on reports that a shadowy super PAC called Real Change PAC —which registered just weeks ago in Nebraska with no disclosed donors and no known principals — is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to influence Democratic primaries in New Jersey’s 7th and Maine’s 2nd Congressional Districts.
The group is a Republican front operation attacking frontrunner Rebecca Bennett in New Jersey and boosting Matt Dunlap in Maine, the candidate who Republicans must believe will give them the best shot at flipping Congressman Jared Golden’s seat.
“This is a deliberate attempt to deceive Democratic voters. Primary voters in New Jersey, Maine, and across the country have a right to choose their own nominees. That choice should be free of manipulation from corporate dark money groups, funded by the very people their nominees will be fighting in Congress.
“This attempt to use anonymous money to try to trick voters and reshape primary elections is a corrupt attempt to interfere in the democratic process. Voters deserve transparency, and accountability. This interference should stop now.”
