democracyFIRST PAC and Defend The Vote are launching a $700,000 ad campaign using Derrick Van Orden’s unacceptable and inappropriate outbursts and behavior to demonstrate that he’s unfit for office, doesn’t care about Wisconsin, and has attacked the foundation of our democracy.

The ad highlights Van Orden’s own words and deeds, including some of his most outrageous moments, including:
- Getting aggressive with Capitol workers and telling them “I don’t give a f— who you are. I’m a Congressman”
- Leaving a teenage librarian “terrified” after their interaction
- Showing up at the barricades on January 6 in support of insurrectionists and election deniers
- Siding with extremists whose policy positions demonstrate Van Orden truly doesn’t “give a f—” about Wisconsin, like kicking sick folks off healthcare and cutting Social Security benefits.
“Derrick Van Orden’s abusive behavior and attacks on the core principles of democracy disqualify him for office,” said Jordan Wood, Executive Director of democracyFIRST PAC. “Our elected officials must always uphold the Constitution and preserve free and fair elections. Derrick Van Orden has become hostile to those principles and everyone around him.”
“Derrick Van Orden’s own words and deeds make the case that he’s unfit to represent Wisconsin families in Congress. He acts like a punk and a menace who spends his days not making laws and legislating, but berating and screaming at people, making everyone around him feel uncomfortable and even trolling them on social media,” Defend The Vote Executive Director Brian Lemek said. “He even marched to the barricades of the Capitol to try to overturn the election results on January 6. Wisconsin deserves better.”
The ad will run on broadcast TV in LaCrosse and Wausau as well as on digital, including YouTube and streaming TV platforms. It begins today, October 25, and runs through Election Day.
