ICYMI: Politico on the Murphy Campaign Anti Voter Tactics

In case you missed it over the weekend, Politico detailed the latest in the Murphy campaign’s undemocratic bullying, intimidation, and anti-voter efforts in the New Jersey Senate race.

Earlier this month, the New York Times revealed an audio recording exposing the campaign’s bullying of the College Democrats in an effort to block an endorsement of Andy Kim.

Defend The Vote Executive Director Brian Lemek released the following statement:

“We endorsed Andy Kim because of his integrity and because he – like President Biden – is a champion of voting rights and our democracy. He’ll bring the change we need. The Murphy campaign’s anti-voter tactics have been appalling. They must stop.”

Key Points:

“Ballot placement for a primary election may not seem consequential, but New Jersey’s unique ballot design plays a large role in how races are won and lost.”

“The President is running a campaign to protect our democracy, and it’s completely inappropriate and plain wrong for the First Lady’s campaign to even think about, let alone look into efforts to drag him into New Jersey’s broken and corrupt politics,” Sabo [Kim’s spokesperson] said. “Instead, the First Lady should agree to have all Senate candidates grouped together on the ballot to give voters a clearly laid out and fair way to choose.”
