Defend The Vote Endorses Wood for Senate

Wood is among DTV’s first Senate endorsements this cycle

DTV is dedicated to defending the freedom to vote, cracking down on corruption, and rebuilding our democracy to serve everyone

Defend The Vote today is endorsing Jordan Wood for Senate.

Wood is committed to fixing the broken system so we can restore trust and transparency in government, protect Maine’s environment and way of life, and ensure everyone has access to affordable healthcare and childcare.

“Mainers have given Susan Collins a lifetime to fix the system that’s stacked against them. They’re ready for a change,” DTV Executive Director Brian Lemek said. “Jordan Wood has committed his career to rebuilding our democracy so it serves all of us, not just big corporations and billionaires. We need his energy and leadership in the Senate to get our country back on track.”

“I am glad to partner with Defend the Vote in protecting American Democracy, fighting political corruption, and ensuring our elections remain free, fair, and accessible,” said Wood. “Defend The Vote is at the forefront in defending the bedrock of American democracy and I look forward to working together in this campaign and in the United States Senate.”

In the Senate, Wood will fight to ensure our democracy responds to the needs of the people on issues like lowering costs and protecting access to health care.

He will take on corruption, protect the right to vote, and oppose any attempt to block eligible American citizens from the ballot box. He supports the Freedom to Vote Act and John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act as well as funding for local election workers to run safe and accessible elections without threat of harassment or intimidation.

DTV and DTV Action Fund recently launched a $14 million cycle plan to support their respective missions, with DTV working to elect pro-democracy candidates and DTV Action Fund focused on pro-democracy issue advocacy.

DTV supports candidates through direct donations, fundraising support from its pro-democracy donor network, independent expenditures, issue briefings, message guidance and research, and on the ground and in-state campaign support.

Last cycle, it helped elect 108 pro-democracy candidates, including 75% of the candidates it endorsed.
