Spanberger has been a fierce advocate fighting to ensure our democracy serves the people
Defend The Vote today is endorsing Abigail Spanberger for Governor of Virginia. Spanberger has been a fierce advocate for defending the freedom to vote so our democracy serves the people, not just billionaires and special interests.
“Abigail Spanberger has been at the the tip of the spear battling corruption and protecting the interests of regular people in our democracy,” DTV Executive Director Brian Lemek said. “She believes that voters in Virginia should have the power to shape policies that directly affect their lives—from grocery prices and housing costs to access to health care. We’re proud to support her candidacy and look forward to helping elect her governor.”
Spanberger has been at the forefront of the fight in Congress to pass reforms to ensure every eligible voter has the opportunity to participate in safe, accessible elections so that their voices are heard and their voters are counted. She is a cosponsor of the Freedom to Vote Act and John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
“Defending our right to vote is at the heart of preserving our democracy — and is foundational to who we are as Americans,” Spanberger said. “I am grateful for Defend the Vote’s work to protect this sacred right, and I’m honored to earn their endorsement to serve as the next Governor of Virginia. As Governor, I will always work to make sure Virginians are able to cast their ballots and make their voices heard.”
