DTV is endorsing a slate of candidates for the House of Representatives who will defend the right to vote, protect our freedoms and strengthen our democracy
Defend The Vote (DTV) today endorsed a slate of candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives who will defend the right to vote, protect our freedoms, and strengthen democracy.
“We can only make progress on the issues that matter most if everyone’s voice is heard and vote is counted,” DTV Executive Director Brian Lemek said. “These candidates will fight to ensure our democracy represents all of us so that we can protect our most valued freedoms and move the country forward.”
The slate of candidates include: Jonathan Nez (AZ-02), Josh Harder (CA-09), Yadira Caraveo (CO-08), Carl Marlinga (MI-10), Herb Conaway (NJ-03), Nellie Pou (NJ-09), John Avlon (NY-01), George Latimer (NY-16), Marcy Kaptur (OH-09), Maxine Dexter (OR-03), Matt Cartwright (PA-08), Sylvester Turner (TX-18), Missy Cotter Smasal (VA-02), Eugene Vindman (VA-07), Suhas Subramanyam (VA-10), Emily Randall (WA-06), Kim Schrier (WA-08), Kristin Lyerly (WI-08).
The candidates have committed to working in the House of Representatives on protecting and expanding the right to vote, ending dark money and partisan gerrymandering, and ensuring democracy works for everyone. They support the Freedom to Vote Act and John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act as well as funding for local election workers to run safe and accessible elections without threat of harassment or intimidation and to prevent the spread of misinformation.
Defend The Vote has emerged as one of the nation’s leading and most influential pro-democracy organizations. It is dedicated to electing pro-voting rights candidates, up and down the ballot, who will preserve our democracy by fighting to safeguard free and fair elections, protect the right to vote, and increase voter access. Last cycle, DTV helped elect 55 pro-democracy House candidates and five Senate candidates.
