Defend The Vote Endorses Jena Griswold for Colorado Attorney General

Defend The Vote today endorsed Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold for Attorney General, backing the candidate with a record of defending voting rights, protecting consumers, and holding corporate special interests accountable under the law.

“No one has more fiercely protected our elections and ensured voters have their voices heard than Jena Griswold,” Brian Lemek, Executive Director of Defend The Vote said. “She’s been a leading voice for increasing transparency and making government more responsive to the people. She’ll bring that same energy and toughness to the Attorney General’s office, cracking down on corruption and ensuring billionaires and corporations cannot take advantage of consumers.”

“As Secretary of State, I’ve repeatedly stood up to Donald Trump. And that’s exactly what I’ll continue doing as Attorney General – fighting MAGA extremists to protect our democracy and Coloradans’ fundamental rights,” Griswold said.

As Secretary of State, Griswold has strengthened election security, expanded access to the ballot, and improved transparency while pushing back against efforts that concentrate power in the hands of the wealthy and well-connected. She has consistently been on the front line for almost 8 years, from holding Tina Peters accountable to stopping Trump’s Postmaster General from spreading misinformation about Colorado’s gold standard vote-by-mail elections in 2020.

As Attorney General, she will defend the rights and freedoms of Coloradans, protect consumers, enforce the law fairly, and ensure special interests are held to the same standards as everyone else.

Defend The Vote and Defend The Vote Action Fund launched a $14 million cycle plan last year to support their respective missions, with DTV working to elect pro-democracy candidates and DTV Action Fund focused on pro-democracy issue advocacy.

DTV supports candidates through direct donations, fundraising support from its pro-democracy donor network, independent expenditures, issue briefings, message guidance and research, and on-the-ground and in-state campaign support.

Last cycle, it helped elect 108 pro-democracy candidates, 75% of the candidates it endorsed.
