Today, Defend the Vote Action Fund launched a $2.5 million television and digital ad campaign focused on Chris Pappas’s record of fighting against corruption and congressional stock trading, all while cracking down on special interest groups.
Pappas has been an outspoken critic of political office being misused for financial gain, co-sponsoring and pushing for the passage of the Restore Trust in Congress Act, a congressional stock trading ban that would prevent lawmakers from using their position of power and access to sensitive information to self-enrich themselves and their family members.
Pappas has also introduced the No Cashing In Act, which would require former members of Congress to file annual financial disclosures, including any potential conflicts of interest and whether they are benefiting financially from relationships formed while serving in public office.
There is wide bipartisan support amongst Americans to ban members of Congress from trading individual stocks, as well as to increase restrictions on lobbying by former members of public office to promote transparency and reduce undue influence.
“Because he knows cracking down on the special interests starts by ending the corruption…and finally reforming ethics in Congress,” the narrator says in “Fighting Back.” “Tell Chris Pappas to keep cleaning up Washington.”
The ad campaign will air on television stations throughout the state, YouTube, CTV, and digital streaming platforms.
