In case you missed it over the holiday weekend: NBC reported on a new poll finding democracy was the top priority for single-issue voters.
- This is consistent with the results of last year’s midterm elections when voters made democracy a top issue. For three months prior to the election (Oct., Sept., Aug.), NBC found that voters saw threats to democracy as the top issue.
- Following the election the AP’s VoteCast poll found that threats to democracy were a top concern for voters.

Voters who may decide to vote for or against a candidate on a single issue tend to prioritize protecting democracy or constitutional rights and abortion, according to the latest national NBC News poll.
Asked if there was one issue that’s so important they would vote for or against a candidate based on that issue alone, 19% of registered voters answered with protecting democracy or constitutional rights, while 18% said abortion was their single-most important issue.
