Twelve frontline House Democrats today have won the endorsement of Defend The Vote (DTV), one of the nation’s leading and most influential pro-democracy organizations.

The candidates are incumbents who are pivotal to passing laws to protect the freedom to vote and defend our democracy. They include Jahana Hayes (CT-05), Nikki Budzinski (IL-13), Eric Sorensen (IL-17), Frank Mrvan (IN-01), Hillary Scholten (MI-03), Angie Craig (MN-02), Chris Pappas (NH-01), Gabe Vasquez (NM-02), Susie Lee (NV-03), Pat Ryan (NY-18), Emilia Sykes (OH-13), Susan Wild (PA-07).

“These candidates believe our democracy should work for everyone, not just the wealthy and powerful. They’re leading efforts in Congress to pass reforms ensuring political leaders listen to the voices of the people, abide by the rule of law, and are held accountable when they don’t,” DTV Executive Director Brian Lemek said. “We need them in Congress fighting to protect our rights and freedoms, and Defend The Vote is proud to support them.”

These candidates are leaders in the House of Representatives on protecting and expanding the right to vote, ending dark money, and ensuring democracy works for everyone. They’ve cosponsored the Freedom to Vote Act and John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and support funding for local election workers to run safe and accessible elections without threat of harassment or intimidation and to prevent the spread of misinformation. Their work in Congress is pivotal to passing legislation that protects every American’s right to vote in safe, accessible, transparent elections.

Defend The Vote has emerged as one of the nation’s leading and most influential pro-democracy organizations. It is dedicated to electing pro-voting rights candidates, up and down the ballot, who will preserve our democracy by fighting to safeguard free and fair elections, protect the right to vote, and increase voter access. Last cycle, DTV helped elect 55 pro-democracy House candidates and five Senate candidates.
