Defend the Vote Executive Director Brian Lemek released the following statement on today’s Supreme Court decision in Watson v. Republican National Committee, which allows states to continue counting timely mailed ballots received after Election Day where permitted by state law:
“Today’s Supreme Court decision is good news for American voters. Every eligible voter who follows the law and casts a ballot on time deserves to have that vote counted.
“While this Court has repeatedly undermined access to voting, today’s decision reached the right result. Defend the Vote will continue fighting to protect the freedom to vote and ensure every eligible vote counts.”
